Biography

A Registered Children’s Nurse with 18 years’ experience working in NHS hospitals. Previous posts include Nursing Sister on a Children’s Observation and Assessment Unit, staff nurse positions on a Children’s general inpatient ward and Accident and Emergency Department of a District General Hospital (DGH), and also Research Nurse for the Medicines for Children Research Network.
Experienced in venepuncture, cannulation and administration of intravenous therapies.
Has experience of working as an Internal Auditor for nationalised industry, with work covering audit of practice against recognised standards and investigating fraud.

Clinical Governance responsibilities including investigating and providing reports into serious incidents, improving patient care through the utilisation of clinical incident reporting to identify areas of concern and clinical audit

With 11 years’ experience working as an Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP) in the children’s area in the Accident & Emergency Departments of 2 large DGH’s, and for the last 5 years this has been as Lead APNP. Responsible for supporting junior medical and nursing staff within the paediatric A&E Department, both by direct clinical supervision and through the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines that comply with National guidance and standards.
