I am a registered nurse with over 23 years of experience within primary and secondary care settings, both within the NHS and private health care settings. I have also worked within occupational health for a private motor vehicle company.
My clinical background has been in a variety of roles from ward based/community-based staff nurse to community matron and practically every role in between. I have a wide variety of clinical experience as well as teaching within an NHS environment. My main focus and interest is adult safeguarding, training and manual handling. I have also had experience of Coroner’s Court through my safeguarding role.
I have also worked as a police constable for three years before injury meant I could no longer do justice to the role and returned to nursing. This was a valuable three years that has given me many transferable skills including attending court and witness statements.
More recently I have left my full-time cancer nurse specialist role to pursue a full-time university course in law. I am still working clinically as a ward-based staff nurse.
