Alexander Chan (Registered General Nurse)

Biography

A registered nurse (adult) since 2003 with experience across a wide range of specialities, including acute care, palliative medicine and community. Currently in practice as an associate community matron, general medical nurse and specialist research nurse. Current clinical duties include clinical assessment, planning health and social care intervention, supervision of care staff, wound care, venepuncture, cannulation and IV therapy, medicines management and administration, clinical and research governance. Previous experience includes intensive care, both as an intensive care nurse and clinical nurse specialist, working in a dual role as clinical nurse specialist and research nurse in palliative care and as the lead nurse on a major service improvement project in genomic medicine.

Formerly employed as an in-house nurse undertaking medico-legal work. This included interviewing clinical negligence and personal injury clients in order to identify and assess potential allegations of negligence, strengths, weaknesses and potential quantum, reviewing clinical records and identifying and instructing experts.
